Wheel Cylinder

Disassembly

  1. With the rear wheel cylinder (2261) removed, remove the rubber boots from the ends of the brake cylinder.

  1. Remove the caliper pistons (2196), cups, and wheel cylinder piston cup spring (2204) from the rear wheel cylinder.

  1. Remove the wheel cylinder bleeder screw (2208) from the rear wheel cylinder.

Assembly

  1. Coat all brake cylinder parts with clean High Performance DOT 3 Brake Fluid C6AZ-19542-AA or DOT 3 equivalent fluid meeting Ford specification ESA-M6C25-A.

  1. Install the wheel cylinder bleeder screw in the rear wheel cylinder.

  1. Place the wheel cylinder piston cup spring, cups, and caliper pistons in the rear wheel cylinder.

  1. Install a boot and wheel cylinder brake shoe link (2042) over each end of the rear wheel cylinder. Clamp the caliper pistons against the ends of the rear wheel cylinder. When using a brake cylinder repair kit follow the instructions in the kit and use all of the parts provided.
