Diesel Engine
The barometric pressure (BARO) sensor is a variable capacitance sensor
that, when supplied with a 5-volt reference signal from the powertrain control module (PCM) (12A650), produces an analog voltage that indicates barometric pressure. The sensor signal is used to determine altitude to adjust timing and quantity of fuel to optimize engine operation. The output of the barometric pressure sensor is one of the variables used to calculate glow plug on time.
