REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION

Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT) Sensor

Gasoline Engines

Removal

  1. Partially drain cooling system. Refer to Section 03-03.

  1. Disconnect battery negative cable.

  1. On 5.0L and 5.8L, remove air inlet tube. On all other engines, go to Step 4.

  1. Disconnect wiring from engine coolant temperature sensor (ECT sensor) (12A648).

  1. Remove engine coolant temperature sensor from intake manifold (9424) or heater water hose (18472).

Installation

  1. Follow removal procedures in reverse order.

  1. Tighten engine coolant temperature sensor to 13-20 Nm (10-15 lb-ft).

  1. Refill cooling system. Refer to Section 03-03.
