Rear drum brakes are adjusted automatically by alternately driving the vehicle forward and in reverse, and sharply applying the brakes when the vehicle is driven in reverse. Manual brake adjustment is required only when the rear brake shoes and linings are replaced or the adjusters are not functioning adequately.
