Place the transmission (7003) on a transmission jack such as Rotunda High Lift Transmission Jack 164-R3508 or equivalent. Install guide studs in the engine and raise the transmission until the input shaft splines are aligned with the splines in the clutch disc (7550).
Slide the transmission forward on the guide studs until it is in position. Install the attaching bolts and tighten to 54-67 Nm (40-50 lb-ft). Remove the guide studs and install the remaining bolts. Tighten the two bolts for the lower plate to 12-16 Nm (9-12 lb-ft).
Install the number 2 or 3 crossmember as described in Section 07-01A. Position the rear engine support insulator between the transmission and number 2 or 3 crossmember. Install bolts and tighten to 81-108 Nm (60-80 lb-ft). Install the nut retaining the rear engine support insulator to number 2 or 3 crossmember. Tighten to 81-108 Nm (60-80 lb-ft). Remove the transmission jack.

NOTE: When the battery has been disconnected and reconnected, some abnormal drive symptoms may occur while the powertrain control module (PCM) (12A650) relearns its adaptive strategy. The vehicle may need to be driven 16km (10 miles) or more to relearn the strategy.
Connect battery ground cable.
