Removal
Raise the vehicle on a hoist and position suitable safety stands under vehicle.
Remove the rear or front driveshaft from the transfer case yokes (7B214). Refer to Section 05-01. Wire the driveshaft(s) out of the way.
Remove the case yoke by removing the 32mm shaft nut (7045), output shaft yoke washer (7B368) and oil seal (7052) from the rear or front output shaft and remove the case yoke.
Remove the yoke to flange seal (7B215) from the front or rear output housing bore with Seal Remover T74P-77248-A and Impact Slide Hammer T50T-100-A.
Installation
Make sure the output housing bores and faces are free from nicks and burrs. Coat the yoke to flange seals with Motorcraft Premium Long-Life Grease XG-1-C or -K or equivalent meeting Ford specification ESA-M1C175-B or automatic transmission fluid. Position the yoke to flange seals into the front or rear output housing bore, making sure that the yoke to flange seal is not cocked in the bore. Drive the yoke to flange seal into the bore with Output Shaft Seal Replacer T83T-7065-B and Driver Handle T80T-4000-W.
Install the case yoke, oil seal, output shaft yoke washer and shaft nut on the front or rear output shaft. Tighten the shaft nut to 203-244 Nm (150-180 lb-ft) front, rear (F-150); 163-203 Nm (120-150 lb-ft) rear (Bronco).
NOTE: F-Series vehicles using the 13-56 transfer case (7A195) use a slip-yoke at the rear output of transfer case. This includes F-150 137-inch wheelbase chassis cab.
Connect the front or rear driveshaft to the case yokes. Refer to Section 05-01.
Remove safety stands and lower the vehicle from the hoist.
