The park/neutral position switch (PNP switch) (7A247) is transmission-mounted and permits the vehicle to start in the PARK or NEUTRAL positions only.
The park/neutral position switch also contains the backup lamp circuits. With the transmission (7003) in REVERSE, the park/neutral position switch directs voltage to illuminate the backup lamps.
