REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION

Park/Neutral Position (PNP) Switch

Removal

  1. Raise vehicle on hoist and position suitable safety stands under vehicle.

  1. Remove the transmission to bellcrank lever rod from the downshift control outer lever.

  1. Remove the nut and lockwasher that secures the downshift control outer lever to themanual control lever (7A256). Remove the downshift control outer lever.

  1. Remove the two park/neutral position switch bolts.

  1. Disconnect the wiring harness from the park/neutral position switch (PNP switch) (7A247).

  1. Remove the park/neutral position switch.

Installation

  1. Position the new park/neutral position switch to the transmission and insert Transmission Range (TR) Sensor (MLPS) Alignment Tool T92P-70010-AH into the aligning notches in the switch. Adjust the alignment tool until all three notches are in alignment.

  1. Proceed to bolt the park/neutral position switch into place to the transmission (7003). The tool should remain engaged until park/neutral position switch is securely bolted in place. Tighten park/neutral position switch bolts to 6-8 Nm (55-75 lb-in).

  1. Remove the adjusting tool and connect the wiring harness to the park/neutral position switch.

  1. Confirm proper alignment visually. The line etched in the actuator should be in a straight line with the line etched in the housing when the park/neutral position switch is centered in the NEUTRAL position.

  1. Install the downshift control outer lever on the manual control lever. Install the lockwasher and nut. Tighten the nut to 17-21 Nm (12-16 lb-ft).

  1. Install transmission to bellcrank lever rod from downshift control outer lever.

  1. Remove safety stands and lower the vehicle.
