REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION

Compass/Outside Temperature Display

Removal

  1. Remove screw at the front of the overhead console.

  1. Gently pull console downward to release the three trim spring clips.

  1. Disconnect the electrical connector.

  1. Lay console upside down on a surface which will not mar the appearance.

  1. Disconnect the 10-pin electrical connector from the compass and thermometer (19A548). Also unlatch the larger connector from the top of the console housing.

  1. NOTE: The garage opener door will be attached to the bezel as it is removed; thus the door latch must also be disengaged to allow removal.

    NOTE: The entire compass/lamp bezel must first be removed from the console housing.

    Remove the seven screws which attach the bezel to the console housing. Gently push on the top side of the interior lamp (13776) to disengage the bezel from the housing.

  1. The bottom side of the compass is latched to the bezel with a plastic hook. Remove the compass from the bezel by gently pulling upward and forward.





Installation

  1. Assemble the compass to the bezel by first hooking it to the front side of the bezel, then rotating it into position with the screw attachment points lying over the lamp screw boss.

  1. Drive two screws to hold the compass and interior lamp to the bezel.

  1. Assemble the bezel to the console housing by sliding the front edge into the housing; then gently push the rear of the bezel and the door into position.

  1. Drive five screws to retain the bezel to the console housing.

  1. Reattach the electrical connectors.

  1. To install the console to the vehicle, connect the electrical connector to the vehicle connector.

  1. Position the console on the headliner by pressing firmly upward near the compass and interior lamp buttons to engage the attaching clips.

  1. Drive one screw through the console housing at the front of the overhead console.
