AM1 CHECK TR SENSOR ALIGNMENT
Does the tool fit properly?
| Yes | No |
| REMOVE tool. GO to AM2. | LOOSEN the two TR sensor mounting screws. MOVE the TR sensor about to allow insertion of the TR sensor tool in the appropriate slots. TIGHTEN the screws to specification. VERIFY shift linkage adjustment. RERUN QuickTest. |
AM2 CHECK TR SENSOR RESPONSE
- Key off.
- Brake applied.
- NGS Tester connected.
- Monitor TR PID on NGS Tester.
- Key on, engine off.
- Move the shift lever through all gear ranges.
Does each gear register properly on NGS Tester?
AM3 CHECK CONTINUITY OF TR SENSOR HARNESS CIRCUITS
- Key off.
- Disconnect PCM.
- Inspect for damaged or pushed-out pins, corrosion, loose wires, etc. Service as necessary.
- Disconnect TR sensor.
- Inspect both ends of the connector for damaged or pushed out pins, corrosion, loose wires, etc. Service as necessary.
- Install breakout box, leave PCM disconnected.
- Measure resistance between Test Pin 64 at the breakout box and TR signal pin at the vehicle harness connector.
- Measure resistance between Test Pin 91 at the breakout box and the SIG RTN pin at the vehicle harness connector.
Is each resistance less than 5.0 ohms?
| Yes | No |
| GO to AM4. | SERVICE open circuit(s). REMOVE breakout box. RECONNECT all components. RERUN Quick Test. |
AM4 CHECK TR CIRCUIT FOR SHORT TO POWER AND GROUND
- Key off.
- TR sensor disconnected.
- Breakout box installed, PCM disconnected.
- Measure resistance between Test Pin 64 and Test Pins 71 or 97, 76 or 77, and 91 at the breakout box.
- Measure resistance between Test Pin 64 at the breakout box and chassis ground.
Is each resistance greater than 10,000 ohms?
| Yes | No |
| GO to AM5. | SERVICE short in harness. REMOVE breakout box. RECONNECT all components. RERUN Quick Test. |
AM5 CHECK TR SENSOR RESISTANCE
- Key off.
- Connect TR sensor.
- Breakout box installed, PCM disconnected.
- Unlock steering column.
- Measure resistance between Test Pin 64 and Test Pin 91 at the breakout box in each gear range position. Refer to voltage and resistance specification table at beginning of this pinpoint test.
Is each resistance reading within specification?
| Yes | No |
| REPLACE PCM. REMOVE breakout box. RERUN Quick Test. If system is not repaired, REFER to Section 07-01A of the Powertrain, Drivetrain Service Manual to complete TR sensor circuit diagnostics. | REPLACE TR sensor. ADJUST TR sensor per procedure in AM1. REMOVE breakout box. RERUN Quick Test. REFER to Section 07-01A of the Powertrain, Drivetrain Service Manual to complete TR sensor circuit diagnostics. |
AM6 RETEST PCM
- Clear DTCs.
- Rerun KOEO Self Test and check continuous DTCs.
Is DTC 0705, 0707, 0708 or 1705 present?
| Yes | No |
| REPLACE PCM. RERUN Scan Tool Diagnostic Tool. | GO to AM7. |
AM7 INTERMITTENT
- Key on, engine off.
- Wiggle wires from PCM to TR sensor.
- Monitor the NGS Tester PID "TRV."
Does the PID change states during the wiggle test?
| Yes | No |
| SERVICE open circuit as necessary. RETEST. | Unable to duplicate. SYSTEM OK. |
